YES! I know, I’ve come back yet again…

December 21, 2009

OK. So yeah, here I am, yet again.

I promised myself I would not give up on this blog but guess what, in the last 12 months I’ve been quiet the busy bee! So I might have forgotten it existed. Actually there was a point of this last year that I was just on breaking point of collapsing and crawling into my bed and not bothering coming out or worrying about anything at all!

That was a time of when I would wake up at the crack of dawn, be at school all day, try complete multiple assessments and exams, then drag my shit to work, get changed and do that for another 5-6 hours till late, sometimes not even getting home till around 1145. There were one or two occasions that I didn’t even get home till 1am the next morning. Let’s just say I had my fair share of sleeping in class (in my defense, I only napped during my free periods…). So eventually something had to give.

At this same time I looked into and took up a new occupation at my place of work, which seemed to make the situation a little easy and a bit more enjoyable, for a little while that is. Working as a Bar Tender a few nights a week after school and on the occasional weekend, not working so late and being home in time for bedtime was a bit more of a graces job from the last I did in the past and I enjoyed it a lot (actually to be honest I think my superior colleague thought I was probably one of the best people to work with and cleaned up after one self compared to other travelers that have come through this little bar!). So I did that for 6 months or so.

But there was still one aspect that I did not consider which I did not see coming. It was the eve-month of my HSC trials which I had prepared for and at the same time coinciding with work, I was arranging shifts with my acting Manager. Now, for some unexplained reason, as much as I tried catching up with her and explaining my situation, she was for some reason under the impression that she still thought I was under trained and still new to the place. And besides still giving me pointless sort shifts (I’m talking about 3 hours then going home!), she started to gradually give me less shifts and also trying to avoid me at certain times as well! I kept at it for a while and enquired into this, but I still kept getting no answers. To top it off I was warned about this behavior from my work colleagues who informed me about this ‘dictation’ the management of this particular workplace enforce from day one. Maybe because of the foreign backgrounds of some of the employees that got used to this treatment after a while, as a thought of ‘I better behave in order to keep my job!’ And these were people who I became friends with and were real great company to be around barely trying to make a buck and coping shit from this person..

Moving on, pretty much leading up to my HSC exams I quit working for this particular Hospitality Company and left all its possible Management and Travel Opportunities in its other franchise divisions across Australia and overseas. (If anyone has realized I’m trying to not state this organizations name for the sake of privacy).

So that was my work life.  Even though it was casual work it was annoyingly eventful the way I look at it. Just imagine that plus school, plus living at home, plus having to keep with my other social activities. I mean I did also turn 18 this year and have been doing some legal age activities. The only real challenges I had from school was the work at hand which was always rectified by asking a helping hand from one of many willing teachers at my school for assistance. Actually right now I may enjoy my new Job only working 3 sometimes 4 days a week and enjoying ones time on the others is something I’ve quickly fallen into but I actually miss going to school now. I’ll admit that straight up!

So that’s just the non-railway aspect of my life in the last 12 months. That doesn’t mean I was not part taking in some railway activities this year, But just for now I’ll put that stuff on hold. Stand by for more in the next coming weeks as I have a big announcement of things I have been doing just recently and things I shall be getting up to in the next month or so.

Cheerio for now,

Fred :-)
